Marten Hogeweg leads a team at Esri, Inc. that develops products and solutions for Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), open government, and enterprise information sharing programs.
Marten and his team developed Esri’s first fully open source product, Geoportal Server. The product has been implemented globally as a standards-compliant, open source solution for geospatial metadata catalogs.
In response to the earthquake in Haiti and other natural disasters, Marten developed the ArcGIS Editor for OpenStreetMap, an open source extension to ArcGIS for Desktop. This extension allowed relief workers and emergency responders to use and edit a popular data source, OpenStreetMap, using the high-end editing capabilities of ArcGIS. The product is available at codeplex.
In addition to these open source products, Marten also manages consulting projects around the world, focusing on information management and sharing.
