Stamatis Kalogirou is an Assistant Professor in Applied Spatial Analysis, Department of Geography, Harokopio University of Athens, Greece. He has studied Computer Science (BSc), Geographical Information Systems (MSc) and Geography (PhD). Having twenty years of experience in computer programming and GIS, he has developed the open source R package lctools. His publication record includes numerous basic and applied spatial analysis studies in geography and demography. He mainly looks at migration; population ageing; spatial inequalities; human poverty and geocomputation applications. He strongly supports open source software and creative commons.
