I'm a software developer with 27 years of GIS experience (I first saw a map on a screen in 1982, which may well pre-date the ability of ESRI to draw a map).

I graduated in 1981 from the Topographic Science course at Glasgow University, then moved on to do an MSc at the University of New Brunswick in Canada. Stayed on in various parts of Canada for 17 years before moving back to Scotland (it was the weather, honest). I'm currently working for an oil+gas software company based in Edinburgh. They force me to work with ArcGIS, which is not nice.
