Please refer to the Official OSGeo Trademark Guidelines.
The text below is intended to help clarify for the community appropriate uses of OSGeo Trademarked material. It is currently in draft, please refer to the above link for more definetive definitions and when in doubt do not hesitate to ask the Marketing Committee The results of this page will most likely be added to the official Trademark FAQ once they've been finalized.
Use Cases
OSGeo subgroups
OSGeo Project
Projects accepted to OSGeo Incubation, Graduated or Archived are free to display the OSGeo logo and name on their materials in conjunction with their project. If still in incubation it is recommended that you use the "OSGeo Incubation" logo. The logo and name are intended to be displayed along side of the project's own logo and indicate affiliation and link back to OSGeo. It's also expected that project materials always contain references back to OSGeo unless there are technical/space limitations preventing such usage.
OSGeo Chapter
OSGeo Chapters and chapters in formation are welcome to display the OSGeo name and logo on their chapter materials. Official Chapters may also state that they are official and chapters in formation may state their in progress status, either way your chapter should be listed on the OSGeo website and/or wiki. Chapters may either display their own logo alongside the OSGeo logo and/or use a slightly modified version of the OSGeo logo. The recommended modified logo only modifies the name of the Chapter not the OSGeo name or logo in any way. If projects would like to use elements of the OSGeo logo with modifications other than changing the Chapter name it is recommended that this be displayed next to the OSGeo logo and that modified versions be shown to the Marketing Committee.
