• Open Data

As FOSS4G is the global event and open data is an international, fast developing initiative, we should stay away from focusing on just one specific geographical region. Legislation, social society, academia and private initiative, more or less successful, related to open data are at every step. FOSS4G should welcome any worth-telling such developments. What must be mentioned, within the context of FOSS4G, is that a highly significant amount of open data related developments is intimately connected to geodata. This is due to the pervasiveness of geospatial information. Thus, I understand it as almost natural for FOSS4G to give the opportunity to present where and when open (geo)data gracefully intertwined with (geospatial)open source. Drafted specific topics:

  • Building a bridge between administrations and communities through Open Geodata
  • Open Geodata in the private sector
  • Best practices and guidelines in community driven data
  • Metadata for Open Geodata
