The OSGeo Board is pleased to announce that it has approved the application by the GEOS project to enter the incubation process. Incubation is a stepping stone to becoming a full fledged OSGeo project.

GEOS (Geometry Engine - Open Source) is a C++ port of the Java Topology Suite (JTS). As such, it aims to contain the complete functionality of JTS in C++. This includes all the OpenGIS "Simple Features for SQL" spatial predicate functions and spatial operators, as well as specific JTS topology functions such as IsValid().

GEOS is used by the PostGIS, MapServer, MapGuide, and GDAL/OGR projects for geometry processing.

Le conseil de L'OSGeo est heureux d'annoncer sa décision d'approuver la candidature du projet GEOS pour entrer dans le processus d'incubation. La phase d'incubation est le premier pas à faire pour devenir un projet OSGeo.

GEOS (Geometry Engine - Open Source) est un port C++ pour la Suite Java Topologie (Java Topology Suite - JTS). Le but est de retrouver toutes les fonctionnalités de JTS en C++. Cela inclut les "Simple Features for SQL" d'OpenGIS pour les fonctions de prédiction spatiales et les opérateurs spatiaux mais également des fonctions topologiques spécifiques à JTS telles que la fonction IsValid().

GEOS est utilisé par les projets PostGIS, MapServer, MapGuide et GDAL/OGR pour les traitements géométriques.
