OSGeo Experience and Roles:
Tõnis Kärdi
Freelance GIS/IT consultant.
Location: Tartu, Estonia
Tõnis has been active in the geo field since approximately 2005, OSGeo charter member since 2017. FOSS4G Europe 2024 chair.
He has a background in environmental technology specializing in remote sensing but through human geography and through his professional endeavours have led him to pursue goals in the field of geoinformatics instead. Crunching data has been his love for years.
He is currently employing himself as a freelance GIS/IT consultant. He has previously worked as a GIS specialist at the Estonian Ministry of Environment IT Center (KEMIT) where he focused on open data and open source GIS solutions in governmental institutions, consulted IT projects that have geo/data/map/services requirements in the Ministry's area of responsibility.
