This year OSGeo will again be present at GWF with an open source track. GWF is organized in Rotterdam from 13 to 16 May The idea is to make this year a half day track, in a slightly larger room than last year. Geocat (Paul/Jeroen) 'll draw the preparations, they're open to all kinds of suggestions and offers to lend a hand :-). We did send out some invitations for slots to fill and based on the replies created a short list. At the end of the track we want to do a panel discussion. For now we didn't apply for a booth, since it's quite costly and the expo is not even opened on the 16th.

For the tentative program (deadline this week) i created this intro:

For this years OSGeo track on GWF we looked for an optimal blend of succesfull opensource usecases and some substantive

talks to enlarge insight in business concepts around open source software in the geospatial sector. You'll notice there is

a slight focus on metadata use. Since metadata is one of the major players in making geospatial data accessible. And data

is what we've seen a lot of last year. About every week some country or city announced a new open data portal. And a vast

amount of open data is location oriented. Providing new opportunities for Enterprizes to create appealling apps.

The Open Source track will give an insight to the legal, technical and business perspectives of Open Source in the geospatial domain. It will highlight the role of the OSGeo Foundation with respect to highest quality software and security of investment into Open Source. In the technical talks industry representatives will present off-the-shelf Open Source solutions ready to use in any environment. Geospatial practitioners will present their use cases with best-of-breed Open Source software and show how to maximize return on investment.

=== Contact ===

Initial contact with GWF was through [[User:Arnulf_Christl | Arnulf]].

From the GWF organisation Akanksha Tyagi, a.k.a. Aki is responsible for organizing the Open Source track. Primary contact within OSGeo.nl

is [[User:Just | Just van den Broecke]]. Just will coordinate with Aki and OSGeo.

=== Content ===

The Open Source Track runs from 14:00-18:00 (A'dam time) and has 4 main consecutive subjects:

# Keynote (20 min)
