The following nominations have been received for the OSGeo Board in 2013 through the Election 2013 process. The nomination period ended on 20 August 2013.
This list is presented in the order nominations were received.
Incumbent board members are marked with an asterisk (*).
Candidate statements and support by OSGeo participants or members, if they have been provided, are linked to immediately after the candidate name as a bulleted list.
Bart van den Eijnden
- Nomination by
- Daniel Morissette
I'd like to nominate Bart van den Eijnden for the OSGeo board election.
Bart's involvement in the OSGeo community and its projects is well known and predates the creation of OSGeo itself. He is a regular at FOSS4G, is very familiar with OSGeo and its mission and often contributes to discussions related to OSGeo activities, so I think he could bring valuable inputs and contributions to the board. He started his own consultancy in The Netherlands back in 2005 (OSGIS.nl) and now works with OpenGeo.

Jáchym Čepický *
- Nomination by
- Jeff Jeff McKenna
I would like to nominate Jáchym Čepický[1] for the 2013 OSGeo Board elections. Jáchym has already served one year on the Board, having graciously stepped into an empty position that needed filling. Coming from the Czech Republic in Central Europe he has brought a much needed global perspective into the Board activities. He is of course very active at the project level, and has been one of the community leaders helping to create and bring FOSS4G-CEE around the region.
I strongly recommend that we bring Jáchym back onto the OSGeo Board.

Jorge Sanz
- Nomination by
- Jeff McKenna
I would like to nominate Jorge Sanz[1] for the 2013 OSGeo Board elections. Jorge is a very active community member from Spain, with his hands into many different parts of OSGeo. Not only at the project level, but he is an active representative and speaker of the Spanish Language Local Chapter (OSGeo-ES), as well as through his local area of Valencia.
I've had the pleasure of listening to some of his presentations, and I see Jorge as an excellent global representative of OSGeo. I have no doubt that through his experience, his confidence, and his leadership, that he will be able to give important input into the shape of the OSGeo foundation.
I strongly recommend that Jorge become a member of the OSGeo Board.

Ian Edwards
- Nomination by
- Jo Cook
Hi CRO and Discuss,
I'd like to nominate Ian Edwards for the OSGeo board. Ian is a newly elected Charter Member, is the current Chair of the UK local chapter [0], and is a crucial member of the local organising committee for FOSS4G 2013 [1]. He also has lots of extremely useful Drupal skills that he is using on the WebCom committee [2] and is involved with the OSGeo Live Project [3].

Michael Smith
- Nomination by
- Daniel Morissette
I'd like to nominate Michael Smith for the board election.
Mike works for the US Army Corps of Engineers Remote Sensing GIS Center and has been a long time power user, supporter and contributor of MapServer, GDAL/OGR and other OSGeo projects. He is a member of the MapServer PSC and is also one of the instigators behind the PDAL project, the GDAL of Point Clouds. In addition to his experience with the OSGeo projects and community, he would bring to the board the perspective of government organizations.
He is a FOSS4G regular (he has not missed one since the 2003 MapServer Users Meeting), and an active participant and supporter of the FOSS4G WMS Benchmarking exercise each year.
Finally, Mike has been following the activities of the board for the last few years (at least), often present as a quiet observer in IRC board meetings and even in one of the face to face meetings, so I believe he is well aware of the way OSGeo operates and prepared for the challenges of serving on the board.

Gérald Fenoy
- Nomination by
- Maria Antonia Brovelli
Dear All
I would like to nominate Gérald FENOY for the OSGeo Board of Directors elections.
Gérald is promoting, using and developing FOSS4G with passion since 2004. He has a very global and generic vision of both the Foundation activities and its software projects. Gérald has a keen interest in technical innovation which he manages to leverage for both community and business related issues.
Gérald is committed to Open Source and is very willing to help the OSGeo projects grow. As an example, he frequently funds OSGeo developers to add enhancements to their software, for using in his personal projects or those from GeoLabs, his geospatial consulting company based in France (http://geolabs.fr).
Gérald co-founded the ZOO-Project (http://zoo-project.org) WPS plateform back in 2008, is PSC chair and main developer of this innovative and incubating OSGeo project. He also contributed to several projects through the years including GDAL/OGR, MapServer and PostGIS, with patches, translations, ideas and more.
Gérald is also a regular at the FOSS4G conference since 2006, where he often gives workshops and talks. He also participated and helped many times in several local chapters in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Gérald collaborates passionately with many Universities both in Europe and in Asia.
Gérald will be a great addition to the OSGeo Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, regarding both coding and open source good practices, but also about international collaborations and community management.
