Introduction

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions are unstructured timeslots where people can self-organise themselves to discuss topics of interest.

General Information

During the FOSS4G Europe 2015 conference in Como, Italy, there will be a number of spaces for people to hold Birds of a Feather sessions.

The 1-hour time blocks outlined below are just general guidelines. Adjust as needed. For reference, an overview of the FOSS4G schedule is available at http://europe.foss4g.org/2015/Program.

GIS and JS, the revolution on the client side?

  • Description:

In JavaScript land, for webmapping use, you only heard about OpenLayers and Leaflet, but the ecosystem is strongly evolving. Let's see and share our knowledge and experience(s) about the other available libraries, the trends, the new tools that can change both your web map conception and your development practices.

We planned to speak about

  • libraries
  • tools like Grunt/Gulp/Browserify + PhantomJS/SlimeJS
  • server side JS (directly or influence on "browsers" land)
  • When/Where: Room V09 13h-14h

Who is coming:

Goals would be:

  • to establish a list for all JS related things for Geo excluding OpenLayers and Leaflet "pure" questions

At the moment, dedicated lists exist for OpenLayers, Leaflet and Ows.js.

  • to start to organize a list of software libraries for geo

At it's a late improvised session, we are open to any input we surely missed. So, come to discuss!!
